It's not about DRUG'S , it's about people in a specific place in time. Sure drugs are a factor but the movie itself is about much more than that. It's about friendship, changes and growing up in general. It's about LIFE.

Awesome movie, one of my many favorites
The main idea I got from Trainspotting was that everybody gets high. Some people achieve it by shooting heroin, some people beat people up (begbie), some people live the corporate life (Renton when he goes to London and works Real Estate), and some people "choose life."
The main argument they're making is that people will never understand why different people choose the life that they do. Similar to how you wouldn't understand the act of trainspotting unless you yourself were doing it.
I think this is why The Passenger by Iggy Pop works in the movie as well

it's not. it's on the 2nd soundtrack, "music inspired by". iggy's referenced a lot in the book (and somewhat in the movie). if they had somewhere to put it, it would of been in the film as well :)

Well there you go.You said it.Moderation.So youre almost agreeing.Smoking weed can become addictive in a psycological way.As I said,Ive seen people smash their homes up due to no weed yet once theyve got sorted theyre fine.Some people have self control, a lot of people dont & do have problems.Serious smokers/caners are at it everyday.

Best movie ever. A timeless classic that didn't glorify or condemn heroin users. It showed the facts about heroin and tells the story of friendships that broke down due to it. It's ambiguous. It shows the good and the bad points of these people and leaves you on how to perceive them. It's the most human and truth to life film I have ever seen. And my favourite.
